so while chatting with some coworkers today i happened up one of the most genius programs. it’s called synergy and it’s basically a software kvm. so instead of having a hardware kvm/multiple keyboard/mice, all you need is synergy installed on any of the computers you wish to control. synergy, once configured, allows you to move your mouse off-screen onto another computers screen, which then redirects keyboard/mouse input to that computer via network.

not only does the save me from switching physical devices when i need to multicomp, it saves me a shitload of desktop space by allowing me to only use one keyboard + mouse
the best part about this whole thing is that it works with windows+mac+linux allowing me to use one keyboard/mouse for my ‘hackintosh’ and vista box.

well i finally got sick of not knowing how to use os x and dropped 700 bones to build a custom from scratch hackintosh. it’s a 700 pc assembled using the most compatible components i could find. the specs are as follows:

• Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
• CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 ghz (e6600)
• GPU: EVGA GeForce 8600 GT 256mb (pci-e)
• Ram: Corsair XMS2 2×1GB 1066 DDR2
• HDD: Western Digital Caviar 500GB 7200 rpm
• Case: CoolerMASTER elite 330
• LCD: Acer 19″ AL1916W

it was a fairly simple install and setup and it’s very nice having a dedicated mac. i’m using kalyway 10.5.2 for the install and using a very minimal number of patches for hardware.

asshole mario is a series of videos of an exceptionally skilled super mario world player pitted against an  exceptionally skilled level designer. the levels are down right fucked up and always involved extremely difficult combinations of moves with very little room for error. this is the first in the series, having watched all of them including asshole mario two, i can say they’re pretty interesting and worth a look

the final levels are insane and while the codec looks like crap and its worth fast forwarding some places, its very well worth watching the entire series

i know i seem to do this about once every year, but i switched hosting companies once again so i can do a few more advanced things

i currently use bluehost.com for my hosting needs and they seem to be alright. for what i use it for it’s perfect, though i will say that neededing a scan of your driver’s license for ssh access seems a bit extreme, but oh well.

i also switched themes again but im not sure how long i’ll stick with this crap

Yesterday we got a pretty decent hail storm which completely owned a few trees and some cars in my neighborhood. It’s been a while since I’ve seen hail so I took a few pictures of what it did to my lawn and pool. It also put some dents in my piece of shit car, but since its already a piece of shit (paint chips included) I didn’t take any pictures.

The smell of it all was the most amazing part of the whole storm. The hail broke so many limbs and branches on the way down it smelt like pine trees were being cut down without the chainsaw smell of gasoline. It was great. I attempted to chill some beer outside with the hail, but it melted too quickly to do much of any good.

Lightning struck two trees about 150 feet from where my computers are today. It’s the closest I’ve ever been to lightning and it was loud as hell. My entire room shook and it fried my neighbors PCs. Luckily for me I use real UPS/surge protectors not dollar-store shit and none of my stuff was damaged.

So I’ve decided to quit wow (attempt #312) and sell my wow account. After totaling my /played time and nearly puking I think I made the right decision.

So since Dec. 04 I’ve spent nearly 310 days of my life playing a crappy video game. Wow….. Hopefully I’ll get some decent bank out of it all. It’s been fun, but the tit-glitter has worn off and its time to move on. Wish all my guildies/friends farewell.

Finally finished the grunt work associated with the RDX/VFL page on the wiki. And right after I finished that I spent a bit of time cleaning up that page and working on a few site issues. During that time I guess I crashed php on the server or something, but it defaulted back to 4.7 from 5.2 which means the wiki won’t run until they change the versions. Yay for php.

I’ve also added a php-driven gallery for /random (link is broken since host move, will be fixed soon) which should make viewing it much simplier. Its something I should’ve done a long time ago but never got around to it.

BODIES… The Exhibition.

One of the cooler things I’ve seen at a museum. It was disgusting yet strangely interesting at the same time. I’d recommend it to anybody who can stomach it. I just happened to be in Pittsburgh for my lady-friend’s birthday and we decided to go. It was pretty wild. It’s hard to be disgusted at times, but it still a very introspective look at the human body. I think it was respectfully done, even if the tickets were expensive.

OpenRDX Project is born after Veni decided to stop developing it. No code will be released until veni officially open sources it himself, though there is a full version on rdx-raid.com if you look for it. Windows and other OOBE’s can be found on the OpenRDX.com forums and wiki. fridgid.com/rdx now redirects there. This wonderful mod will soon be free and development will continue.

Some others and myself had been working on keeping a few parts of the code up, and finally just decided to make the site and hope for the best. Veni has been MIA for over two months now.

AF-Raid 1.0 (note you still need RDX to use this, and not the free one) released which also marks the end of my development with Nurfed. Fridgid Frames will still be developed but under RDX not Nurfed. Sorry to disappoint all those die-hard Nurfed fans, but the little bugs are getting annoying and RDX is so much more cleaner. I’ll try to keep my layout functional on the Nurfed boards if there is enough interest, as they worked up until a few days ago.

Once I finish cleaning up my RDX version of FridgidFrames I’ll post a release, but there are still a few things I’m working on.

So I might be getting back into a few OS x86 things after building my new rig. This comp is pretty decked and is also my first homebuilt. The only things keeping me from using linux or OS X x86 full time right now is video driver support. I’m still (sadly) a WoW player and that means I need full video driver support. OS X86 is getting there but since my new video card is an 8000 series nVidia the support is just not there yet.

That being said, it looks like it’ll be Vista until they come out with OS X drivers for 8000 series cards. All you Vista haters and qq softly because I like it. The only crashes I’ve had thus far have been due to issues when I was using an illegit copy of Ultimate. I’ve since switched to a legit version of Business and its solid. True transparencies were much needed but it still needs exposé-like effects, the little flipbook thing is a joke.

Well, its been a while since an update, and I figured 5:30 AM on Monday morning to be a great time to update my site. I moved a few icons, cleaned up some code. Added some pics. Enjoy.

Good fucking game. So while I was updating the site to the new design and fixing a bunch of broken links earlier today, I made a small error which ended up deleting the entire fucking site thanks to the crappy version of Dreamweaver I use. Great Dream you weaved me there.

For the first time in my entire life, I had to resort to using the god damn recycle bin. I’m ashamed to even be admitting it.
